ELKIN and HOPE collaborate to donate children's books to schools in Kenya

Hope_elkin_ad_540

ELKIN is designed by sisters Brit and Kara Smith. This season, the Smith sisters launched with the theme of Gothic Romance and enlisted their musician friend Z Berg of the band The Like to model the collection. Their hangtags come with a reading and music list pertaining to the season's genre, and for every piece sold, one children's book is donated through the H.O.P.E Campaign to children in Kenya.  The first set of children's books will be going to a home, school and living compound run by retired women educators who are part of the Kenya Women Educators Association in Meru/Embu out of Nairobi.  The books are part of the Young African Express and Jacaranda Design's "learning for a better life" program.

You can purchase the collection at ShopBopSteven Alan in Venice or Madison on 3rd in Los Angeles

HOPE // OBEY // SXSW

The OBEY Crew was in Austin for a couple of days for the usual paper and glue rally during SXSW.  This time around we put together a prime piece of real estate for a mural to help kick off HOPE's Local to Global Outdoor Gallery Project – the largest outdoor gallery mural project in Austin sponsored by Dick Clark Architecture, Castle Hill Partners, and CTC International.

Here are a few pics of the mural, which features giant LP covers based on the 12 inch record format from Shepard’s recent exhibition, Revolutions – fitting for the music scene this week in Austin.  Special Thanks to OBEY and Brent Richardson for some of the photographs.
